Oggi voglio parlarvi di qualcosa di rinfrescante e gustoso da bere in questa torbida estate. Qualcosa che mi è capitato di assaggiare proprio ieri pomeriggio mentre gironzolavo in zona Stazione Termini a Roma.
Facendo
una rapida ricerca su Google ho scoperto che si tratta di un prodotto
tipico Taiwanese che trova le sue origini a Taichung, dove negli anni
'80 una donna è divenuta popolare quando ha iniziato a shakerare
assieme al suo tè degli aromi fruttati che rendevano la
miscela dolce e fresca.
Il
“Bubble Tea” può essere fatto con frutta fresca, crema, latte e
ghiaccio tritato come un vero e proprio milk shake. La
consistenza delle perle, che si depositano sul fondo del bicchiere e
vanno aspirate con una cannuccia dal calibro circa il doppio delle
normali cannucce, è quella delle gomme da masticare.
Prima
di ieri ero ancora dell'idea che al bar servissero solo tè freddo
alla pesca e al limone, adesso so che si potrà scegliere tra decine
e decine di aromi perchè le possibilità sono praticamente infinite.

want to write about something refreshing and tasty, a much needed
relief during this ridiculously hot summer. I’ve had a chance to
try some just yesterday, while I was walking around the Termini Train
Station in Rome.
Through
a quick Google search, I’ve discovered that it’s actually from
Taiwan rather than mainland China, specifically from Taichung, where
in the 80s a local woman saw a surge in the popularity of her
establishment once she started to add various fruity aromas to a
simple cup of tea.
“Bubble
Tea” can be made with fresh fruit, cream, milk, and mixed ice for a
real “smoothie” effect. The key to perfect Bubble Tea lays
in the consistency of such pearls, which are deposited at the bottom
of the glass and must be eaten trough a gargantuan straw. The perfect
consistency is achieved when they almost feel like gum; if they’re
too hard or too soft the entire drink is compromised.
In
conclusion, I’m glad that in addition to the simple iced tea, we
are finally free to explore new and exciting options with Bubble Tea.
The choices are basically endless, as one can choose between a very
large quantity of aromas.
