Business partnerships are nothing new, and the pros are fairly obvious: cross-promotion, increased sales, and a much needed breath of fresh air to an outdated marketing campaign. Lately, this old trend has been getting quite a makeover from the world of Fashion and Style.
The
first of such examples comes from Diet Coke, which has nominated Jean
Paul Gaultier Creative Director for the brand. In turn, he has
redesigned the classic bottle with three of his signature looks. The
shock-stylist has paired up a classic ad campaign with YouTube
webisodes of the hilarious series "The Serial Designer", in
which he stalks young women and improves their fashion choices.
This
great collaboration is not the first one of its kind. Consider two
cases involving sparkling water. In Italy, sparkling water is not
exactly considered a high-ticket item. It's very popular, widespread,
and not excessively costly. However, this is not true in the United
States, where Coca Cola's own San Pellegrino is considered the golden
standard for all things sparkling, with the price tag to prove it. It
has recently teamed up with jeweler and designer Bulgari in occasion
of the latter's 125th year anniversary to add a touch of gold to its
iconic label. I have always been a big fan of the jeweler's work, but
I found this creation a bit more gaudy than high-fashion.
The
concept has spread to Europe, where Nestle's Perrier teamed up with
fashion icon Dita Von Teese to add some sex-appeal to the beverage.
In addition to a steamy photo-shoot and the Perrier Mansion, Dita's
collaboration adds a black and white burlesque theme to the drink,
which I believe compliments it quite nicely.

d’acqua.
po’ di sex-appeal all’acqua.
